Craft paper can be used to transform any flat surface into the perfect backdrop for photographing jewelry, accessories and other small items. It’s easy to find, it’s incredibly affordable and it’s available in a seemingly endless selection of patterns, colors and textures.

Wood Floors or Table Tops
Wood floors or table tops can add a warm, rustic background to your photos. Make sure the surface is clean before taking pictures. If your floors or table surface have a glossy finish, make sure you turn off your camera flash to avoid glare.

Yup, you read that right. A concrete floor, concrete window sill or cinderblock can all provide a beautiful backdrop for your product photos. If the concrete isn’t polished, avoid contact with clothing and other items that can be easily snagged.

If you’re having trouble finding a neutral wall to take pictures of mannequins, models or larger items, consider hanging a curtain on a wall or movable clothing rack. Burlap, sheets, scrap fabric or scarves can all be used to turn any table into a backdrop for photographing jewlery and other small items.
