You spend quality time planning, creating and sharing content to Facebook, so it can be frustrating when your shoppers aren’t seeing it! The key to increasing your exposure on Facebook is to create high-quality, engaging content. Use these 10 simple tips to make your Facebook posts more engaging to reach more of your social shoppers.
1. Keep it Simple
You are competing with hundreds of other posts on your shopper’s news feed, so there isn’t much time to dive into the details. Make sure your posts include something visually appealing and the keep the text short and to the point.
2. Know When Your Fans are Online
One of the most popular questions we get is “what time should I share to Facebook?” Unfortunately, there is no magic time to post and it varies greatly between stores. The best way to determine what time to post is by viewing your Facebook Insights. Head over to your business page and click “View Insights” in the Admin Panel. Then navigate to the “Posts” tab. You will see a graph that shows when your fans have been online in the past week.
3. Make it Relevant
Stick with what you know. Shoppers like your page because they love your store. Be sure to give them what they want: information about your store and photos of your available merchandise. Leave the breaking news and celebrity gossip up to someone else.
4. Share High Quality Photos
The quickest way to grab attention is with an image. Facebook posts with images generally receive 40% more engagement for this very reason. Check out our photography tips for help with making your merchandise look stunning.
Pro Tip: Be patient and be consistent. Growing your audience on Facebook is an organic process and it won’t happen overnight. But if you give it a fair shot by posting quality content on a consistent basis, you are sure to see an improvement. Remember it’s not all about the likes. If you’re experiencing more foot traffic and increased sales in your store, your online marketing efforts are likely making an impact.
5. Let your Personality Shine
Shoppers love your store because it’s unique and they love interacting with you and your employees. Let that voice translate online by getting creative (or even downright silly) with your photos.
6. Share Sneak Peeks and Teasers
Remember that different shoppers are online at different times. If you have big news to share (a huge shipment of new arrivals, a new store opening, upcoming special events), make sure you start to spread the word early and often. Build some anticipation by posting sneak peeks and teaser posts that encourage shoppers to check back soon for more details.
7. Create a Sense of Urgency
If you’re down to limited quantities of an item or a big sale is ending soon, share a photo to let shoppers know that time is limited and they should hurry into your store as soon as possible.
Pro Tip: Sometimes a post deserves to be in the spotlight. If you’re sharing big news and you want to reach a wider audience, consider promoting your post.
8. Provide a Clear Call to Action
Offer some guidance on what shoppers should do next. If you’re hosting a contest, make it clear what they need to do to participate. If you’re sharing new merchandise, include a link back to your website and prompt customers to click the link to view more information.
9. Ask a Question
Shoppers love when you ask for their opinion! Ask open-ended questions that are simple to answer to encourage shoppers to comment. You can share two items and ask shoppers which is their favorite or let them help you make buying decisions by asking about what styles they are looking for.
10. Encourage Comments, Likes and Shares
It’s ok to be direct in asking for interaction, but you can be more clever than just begging for likes. Post fun captions that encourage shoppers to play along. Here are some examples:
